Therapy Services

I specialize in supporting individuals through the emotional and relational changes that often accompany pregnancy, postpartum, and the transition into parenthood. This season of life can be deeply meaningful—and also unexpectedly hard. Shifts in identity, relationships, and daily routines are common, and feeling overwhelmed does not mean you’re doing anything wrong.

Many of the people I work with find themselves carrying an invisible mental and emotional load while trying to meet the needs of others. You may feel stretched thin, under-supported, or disconnected from the person you used to be. Together, we make space to slow down, understand what you’re experiencing, and gently reconnect with yourself.
I commonly support clients who are navigating:

-
The mental load and emotional labor of parenting
-
Feeling overwhelmed, depleted, or “not yourself”
-
Adjusting to new roles, identities, and responsibilities
-
Birth, pregnancy, or reproductive trauma
-
Anxiety, depression, or mood changes during prepnancy or postpartum
-
The stressors and pressures of primary parenting, especially with young children
-
Guilt, burnout, and the weight of expectations—internal or external

While much of my work focuses on perinatal and parenthood mental health, I also work with adults navigating anxiety, trauma, relationship challenges, and the many transitions life brings.

Therapy offers a compassionate, nonjudgmental space where your experiences are taken seriously. It’s a place to process what you’ve been holding, develop coping strategies that actually fit your life, and find steadier footing during a demanding and transformative time.
I provide individual therapy for adults using an integrative, evidence-based approach tailored to your unique needs and goals. My work thoughtfully blends several therapeutic modalities, including:

-
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT): To help identify and shift unhelpful thought patterns and behaviors that contribute to distress.
-
Attachment-Based Therapy: To explore how early relationships influence your current emotional world and to support healing through secure, supportive connection.
-
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT): To build practical skills in emotion regulation, distress tolerance, mindfulness, and interpersonal effectiveness.
-
Psychodynamic Therapy: To foster deeper insight into past experiences, unconscious patterns, and how they continue to shape your present life.

All of my work is grounded in a trauma-informed lens, with an emphasis on safety, collaboration, and respect. Therapy is not about fixing you—it’s about supporting you as you navigate this season with greater clarity, compassion, and care to show up in a way that feels more comfortable for you.
What would therapy look like?
Hi! I’m Katie Blum, MA, LCMHC, PMH-C, and I’m the therapist and owner of Kindled Ember Counseling. I specialize in perinatal and maternal mental health, family-focused therapy, and supporting adults through life’s many transitions—especially the ones that don’t come with a clear blueprint.

My work is rooted in compassion, connection, and respect. I believe healing happens in the context of safe relationships, and my goal is to create a space where you feel genuinely seen, heard, and supported. Whether you’re adjusting to parenthood, working through anxiety or trauma, or navigating the complexities of family and attachment, I walk alongside you with care, curiosity, and steady support.

My therapy style is relational, collaborative, and intentionally human. I show up authentically in our work together, creating a space where you can feel comfortable bringing your full self as well. Therapy doesn’t have to feel stiff or intimidating to be effective.

When we work together, my hope is that you not only find relief from what feels heavy, but also reconnect with your strengths, feel more like yourself again, and build a life that feels more balanced, sustainable, and aligned with who you are.
Meet Katie
